For thousands of years man has discovered Pyrethrum’s extraordinary properties and has cultivated it since ancient times, especially in the Far East.

The Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium, the perennial plant of the Astaraceae family completely resembling a common daisy, that grew spontaneously in the eastern Adriatic region, from Istria to Montenegro, in limestone and arid places, which is why it is also called “Dalmatian Pyrethrum”. Today its cultivation is concentrated in the large plantations of Australia and New Zealand.
It is a rustic plant, which also grows spontaneously in meadows. Used to decorate the gardens or balconies, and it achieves truly enchanting results with its simplicity.
To produce Pyrethrum, the flower heads are used, that is the inflorescence formed by the set of small flowers. Once collected, dried and ground they are used to obtain a formulation that can be sprayed on plants in environments to fight annoying insects, such as mosquitoes, flies, ticks, sand flies and many more.
The targets of the insecticide in the garden
Pyrethrum would seem an excellent choice to defend the plants in our garden from most harmful insects. We can use it against aphids, beetles, whiteflies and adult moths.
It also has a low effect against bedbugs, which are among the most resistant insects, it does not serve against mites (such as spider mites) and against parasites that live in the ground (for example elaterids). In the garden and near the house it is also useful against mosquitoes.

MTech Malta strictly uses insecticides, and NOT Pesticides. What’s the difference?
Pesticides are chemicals that may be used to kill fungus, bacteria, insects, plant disease, etc. These chemicals work by ingestion or touch and death may occur immediately or over a long period of time.
An insecticide is used to specifically target and kill insects.
So what does MTech Malta use as a service? Only the best and safest preferred product on the market – Microthrin – can be used indoors and outdoors, and in animal husbandries too.

MICROTHRIN is an insecticide formulated in aqueous microemulsion which acts by contact and ingestion with killing action and high persistence. The absence of solvents makes MICROTHRIN odorless and non-flammable. MICROTHRIN is composed of a photostable pyrethroid with lethal action and a pyrethroid with a strong killing and flushing action, synergized and protected from enzymatic degradation by Piperonyl Butoxide.
MICROTHRIN is suitable for indoor and outdoor public, civil, rural and industrial environments: hospitals, schools, food industries, hotels, restaurants, warehouses. The use is also foreseen for treatments in green areas, tree-lined avenues, bushes and hedges, lawns, as the concentrations of use are not phytotoxic. (Culex Pipiens, Aedes), sand flies, wasps (Vespula spp) and crawlers including cockroaches (Blatta orientalis, Blattella germanica, Periplaneta Americana) and ticks (Ixodes ricinus).
MICROTHRIN is readily soluble and can be used using pressure pumps, turbo atomizers and thermal foggers.
